Do you know what the message of the Gospel is?

Do you know what the message of the Gospel is?

Do you?

Because that’s what people need right now. And that’s what they’ve always needed.

What we need most is not toilet paper, or food, or medicine, or a vaccine for that matter. That’s not what this world needs the most. That’s not what you and I need, at least not first and foremost.

We need Jesus.

And we don’t need the fanciful imaginary image of Jesus so many like to conjure up in their minds. We need the real Jesus. The Jesus of Scripture.

Not the social justice warrior Jesus, or the unoffensive Jesus, or the tolerant Jesus, or the give-me-what-I-want Jesus, or the Jesus that we’d like if we had our own sinful way.

No. No more of that nonsense, no more of that fake Jesus crap. No more main-stream Christianity, water-down and love, truthless, blasphemous, dangerous, WORTHLESS Christianity that we like to try and foster here in the West.

I was prompted by a friend to read Daniel 9. I suggest you do the same. It’s a place where Daniel goes before God and confesses his sin, his people’s sin, and acknowledges they are wicked but God is good. And he prays for forgiveness and he repents.

That’s what we need. Repentance. Not so much  loving smiles, or words of encouragement, “good thoughts,” or simple prayers of protection.

What we need now is the same exact thing that we’ve always needed. Jesus Christ, the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Look what Paul says, inspired by the Holy Spirit:

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, ‘The righteous shall live by faith.’

Romans 1:16-17

You see the Gospel is “the power of God for salvation.” We need it desperately. Just look at what Paul says next, and consider our country. Consider our nation.

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them. “

Romans 1:18-32

Recognize the wickedness of man. Recognize the wickedness of our country. Recognize that we murder babies every single day in the name of choosing what we want to do. We worship ourselves, we hate God, we love stuff, stuff, stuff. And before you start thinkin’ your so good because you don’t do any of those things, look at your heart. Look at the Scripture. If Paul could say he is the worst of sinners (1 Timothy 1:15), what does that make you and I?

Look at how we try to destroy God’s design with feminism! With homosexuality, and transgenderism! Look at the love of self, the ignorance of God, the disrespect of authority, the deceit and the sexual immorality! Look at how we call good evil and evil good (Isaiah 5:20).

God punishes nations. He slaughters peoples. He brings disaster, and disease, and death. He is a good God because a good God cannot let evil continue like it does forever. A good judge must judge fairly, and the judgement for men and women like me and you is death. It is Hell. It is fire and worms and horror and darkness and an eternity of it.

Save the saving grace of God on your life and mine. Praise the Lord for the saving grace of Jesus Christ, that if we’d turn to Him in repentance and faith and place our trust in Him, He will save us. If you’ve ever lied, you are a criminal before God and therefore deserving of punishment, even an eternity in Hell.

That’s all of us.

May this coronavirus bring the United States to its knees, may revival come, may people turn in repentance because of God’s judgment. See these passages.

What we need is the Gospel preached, even if there’s nobody to preach it on the streets to. Preach it to your families, to your friends, on the internet, on your Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat. Herald the Gospel.

Not half the Gospel though. The whole Gospel, with what we know from Scripture, not what makes us feel good or is watered down to be not so offensive.

Jesus, the Son of God, God Himself, was born of the virgin Mary, lived a perfect life, innocent, never breaking God’s law. He died on the cross willingly, He bore the punishment we deserved. We should burn in Hell, but He died and suffered God’s wrath for us. Jesus was separated from the Father so we did not have to be separated from Him. The wrath of God was poured out on Jesus, and the full measure of that we cannot comprehend. Jesus died and rose again, and was seen by many witnesses. There will be judgment of every person, and doing “good things” and being nice won’t make you okay. Breaking one of God’s laws is enough to condemn anybody. Only faith in Jesus can save a person. Below are some passages and in this link here’s some more. We ought to examine ourselves (2 Corinthians 13:5). See if you know how one is really saved according to the Scriptures, and be nourished by the Words of God. Examine whether you know the true Gospel. You can read Daniel 9 here.

because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Romans 10:9

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Ephesians 2:4-8

‘Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

Matthew 7:21-23

‘Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.’

Matthew 7:24-27

You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.I do not receive glory from people. But I know that you do not have the love of God within you. I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him. How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?

John 5:39-44

May the people of God take this time of quarantine and fear to care for others, to pray, to share the Gospel, to show love to people, to help the needy, to be kind and considerate, to repent, to worship God, to fellowship, to be the salt and light that we ought to be (Matthew 5:13-14).

Let’s pray for others and for our authorities (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Let’s pray for our nation. Let’s pray for repentance, revival, for the true Gospel to be heard and received, for the true God to be worshiped rightfully, for churches to return to basing everything they teach on what they find in Scripture by the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people,if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

2 Chronicles 7:13-14

May God bless you my brothers and sisters in Christ. Feel welcome to reach out to me with any prayer requests or any needs I may be able to help with or get you help with during this trying time. God is our rock, our shield, our salvation. Feel free to contact me for whatever you may be dealing with. If nothing else, I can pray.

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalm 27:1

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Firm and Beautiful Hope in the Gospel of Jesus Christ

Hope is a lovely thing. Really, it’s incredible. And our God is a God of hope; afterall, He is our hope. Most, probably all, of us hope for many things throughout our lives. It’s the pain of not attaining that thing that kills us, that comes off almost like a knife in the back from…
